Mowing The Grass

No. It is not the title. Rather how I wanna start my post. It's been quite sometime I've updated my blog. I used to be quite a blogger. Sometimes 2 post per day. I used to blog about music, every movie I went to. But then, I don't know where the initiative disappeared to. Probably I was put off by other bloggers who are so easily garnering views and ad income because of their looks.

No harm or critics. Looks does play a major role these days. Not that I condemn you. Rather envy would be a better word.

Well, let's keep that aside and I'd rather talk about what's on my mind at the moment.

Lesson One

It's the freaking long break. I have all types of fungus and mushrooms all over me. Everyday I just do the same thing over and over and over. Eat, play, sleep. Round and round the clock. I tried to find part time work. But hmm... Those unanswered calls resulted into the stimulation of the viral and contagious laziness that is manifesting inside me... I would have killed myself knowing I was virtually doing nothing good... T.T

But hey, to think back I was such a nerd and was in such a strict family during my secondary days made things easier. I only played computer games during the weekend, that only at most 2hours per day. I did not had a cellphone, so hitting out with girls was never on my list.

So, I got into Maplestory and was kinda over-indulged in it. There was this specific level where you can get job advancement and learn more powerful skills. It was a game that you yourself, play to try to reach the top.

So deep down inside, I set a level of 120 to achieve ( the last job advancement level. Max level is 200). So after playing for about 4 months ( I started playing on the beginning of April), I finally reach level 120 on Monday, 1st of August 2011. Exactly 4 months.

Of course there was this feeling of achievement. Come on 120 isn't easy. I didn't knew a single thing about how to get to 120. I went through forums and guides. I played without using real money. And I did not freaking play whole day either!

But then now, I felt quite lost. Now what? 200? Note that it takes more and more time to get to the next level. So getting to 200 before my semester starts is out of the question. Well then I'll just stick to leisure play... No rush and hush... =)

All these days, until the day I reach 120, I've realised something. That no matter what we do, there must be a target or level that we are aiming for. I aimed for 120. I've made it. I felt happy. But there are times when we know that we are much more capable of doing something more. Maybe in this case I should have set a target to a level of 150. *ponders

Okay quit using a game as a reference. A smart and hardworking kid should not just aim for 80 marks in a test when he is capable of achieving 90 marks. Of course 80 marks when compared to others is a rather respectable result, but hey, with great power comes great responsibility. If you're brilliant, why not aim higher? Why aim for the sky, when you know there are footprints on the moon?

Lesson 2

Okay after the day I reached 120, I made up my mind to do the Zakum pre quest. Now one of the pre quest involves a jump quest, which basically requires you to jump on platforms at the right time.

Here's a video on what's a jump quest...

So basically this "pro" took 6 minutes. In reality, it could take up to 4-5 hours depending on your skills and luck. I took around 2 hours +. And err, remember ONE MISTAKE, you'll dropped down the lava beneath, taking 200+ hp damage per 5 seconds and you have to swim through the lava back where you started... And yes, the jump quest has 2 stages. Means there is a stage one and 2. Finish both means you've succeeded.

I admit it really got to my nerves. Everytime I fell I was like SH*T! WTH! D*MN! And I was impatient. Sometimes I did not wait for the right moment to jump. I made a perfect jump, but the falling rocks made me fall into the lava... *fuming with anger that time...

Good thing about this was, I read a guide on how to do this jump quest. Of course there is no particular skill or technique really. One most important aspect is a calm mind. This is a test of patience! One good suggestion I read was, pop in some soothing music and you'll breeze pass it. And those words of encouraging that I gave myself like, it's okay, try again, you did well, but try to remember the sneaky part and all those things and stuff. In the end I made it.

The 1st stage I think I fell around 20 times... The second stage, I think I fell less than 5 times... Hence such is the miracle or difference a sane and patient man can be compared to a rash and impatient counterpart.

Other than being patient, it is the spirit of never giving up. No matter how many times you've fall, it's all right to climb back up and be ready to fall again, until you manage to vanquish your fear and obstacles. Life is cruel. But we human, are hardy folks ;)

Yes, playing Maplestory (too much!) is a waste of time, I admit. But surprisingly what I have gained, or learned are lessons of life. Life inside a cyber world is similar to the reality. But to say it is entirely the same is completely outrageous and obnoxious. I've a million in my cyber world and I grow crops in FarmVille or Barn Buddy. That doesn't make me a millionaire in the reality or a farmer that steals his neighbour's crops... LMAO!

So, basically, I just proved that playing computer games does wonders huh? XD

But then again, don't think all gamers are so wise to realise lessons of life in games huh? *chuckle

Ah yes, my blog seems tidy now.... =D

Evolution, or Mutation?

One theory has stated that men evolved from apes, our precursors. I don't quite believe in this theory, but compared to believing God created everything, then I'll just stick to the previous theory.

This post is not about God or religion. Rather a way to start my topic. Evolution. A change in physical or mental for the better; in someways also creating a new species if we look from the point of view of science. Birds evolving from dinosaurs, men evolving from apes.

Mutation? A change too. However, rather a forced one due to circumstances. From the point of view of sciences, mutation is caused by radioactive compounds that somehow temper with the DNA or nucleic acid arrangement.

Evolution.

Mutation.

Evolution of the human race. No doubt that we have become more and more advance if compared to the past. In the past, Icarus was treated as a joke and died when he tried to fly. Now flying seems to be a norm. Yes. Though the evolve is rather the evolve of science and technology, but in the end, it must be credited to the human brain that made this all possible.

However, although Science has been evolving all this years, sadly to say that the human nature is mutating all the time (for the worse). Kids nowadays are showered with more than what they need. And yet for them its still not enough. And also regarding moral values. Bullying your own friends, posting your heroic deeds on facebook, only to be condemned by the whole world.

C'mon. CUT YOUR FRIEND'S HAIR?? YOU KIDS ARE SINFULLY SICK TO THE CORE.

SICK!

And for what you wanna take handphones to school? And you create a page to counter the ban the school places on handphones... WTF...

Kids nowadays.... are MUTATED!

IPHONE SOME MORE...

My Point of View

Now, how to begin? Apart from the "different people have different point of views" cliche.

Let's just begin. No doubt. Adults always think they are right. Most of the time, yes, but not always. Even when you pit an adult against another adult, there would surely be a difference. One may be right and one, might not be that right. But if you were to pit that adult with a less "wise" compared to a younger person, let's say a son versus a father, you would still end up with a situation where the son follows the father's plan or advice, even though from a 3rd person's point of view, we know that the son's perspectives, is some how more acceptable.

Somehow it is quite random for me to come up with such a post. However, there is a reason behind each and every post I write. Even for the random-est post have their reasons.

Night time or the time before I sleep is when my brains starts thinking, brainstorming. And yeah, this happened yesterday before I was about to drift off. It's a bit sensitive, since it is something quite personal.

I'm in KL, staying with my aunts. One aunt provides the accommodation, one provides the meals. And paying them the rent and money for meals monthly can be a hassle.

Well, a little bit. I don't mind going to the mall to withdraw money and pay them personally. But hmm.. not for my dad. He practically freaks out when I haven't paid one of my aunt's rent.

Yes, as a tenant, it is your duty to pay rents on time. But considering that my account is dried up, and the money that my parents just transferred in just got through, I shouldn't be the one to be blamed, correct? At least with a 10 day limit to pay up the rent, won't make me a lousy tenant right?

And when it comes to accounts and money, not that I do not trust people. It's just that I see business the traditional way. You pay, he or she receives, and you get what you want.

Yeah, asking my aunt to straight away withdraw money from MY account seems to save me from hassles and troubles. But I rather go through the hassle and pay her the right way. Paying face to face somehow leaves a permanent mark that you actually clear a debt or whatever, and it does shows respect to both parties.

Yeah it's impossible for big and humongous business transactions to be paid face to face, but hey, even in sports competition, winners get to receive mock cheques from organizers.

So now you get what I mean?

But still, yet again, since I am my dad's son, and I somehow dislike arguing, I guess I'd rather keep my mouth shut, and do things HIS way.

After all, I just need to pay another 3 times of rent and I'm OUTTA HERE KL!!!

*note: Not that my dad is not smart. He is in fact one of the smartest guy I've known. And I bet he is surely smarter than YOURS! XD But then again, he is human, and he is not smart in every single thing on this planet. ;) Just that probably in this situation, he has his points and I have mine, which I deem more acceptable. Now don't cha think so? XD

Words of Wisdom 2

自己的优点, 由别人来发现; 自己的缺点, 由自己来改变。

Miracles

Lesson Learnt While Jogging

Study tension is rising. I have to admit, that for this semester, I haven't did my usual preparation. Even if there was any preparation, I'd have to say that I wasn't very serious.

You reap what you sow. If you haven't been nurturing your plants from the start of the semester, you can't expect to see them bearing fruits now. As the semester goes on, from second year to third year and so on, it gets tougher. More care, discipline and effort have to be put in.

Enough of the self lecturing. And enough of trying to repent what could not be undone. Time is nearly up. Yet I have been fretting and moaning about the time left and the stack of notes that haven't really left a clear imprint inside my noob brain. I cursed the notes and myself, until I'd really lost hope and interest in what I study.

I went for a jog. In fact I just came back and started this post. I set myself a target to run 5 rounds around the stadium track, the outer most track, in a maximum and consistent speed. On the second lap, I saw a group of students playing football at the field. My heart went:" Stop the jogging, join them. Do what you want and like!"

But then, another voice echoed:'You came here to jog. Although football is preferably your interest, but once you set out to do something, you must have the heart and will to finish it or complete it."

I kept running. In fact running with new found power and speed.

And right after I finish my 5 laps, I went and join them. Although there was barely any time left, I touched and held the ball most of the time, and I made no mistakes while playing...

Lesson learnt:"Never give up what you started to do. Although it seems hopeless and an impossible task, but never fail to achieve the importance of the something you do - Try your best"

Study mood, here I COME!!!

Perspectives

Again, I dig out an old topic to discuss. Maybe not under the name of perspectives, as I don't want my posts to be the same as the title of my friend's( Khaw Wen Pin's) blog @ http://pinadelaide.blogspot.com/

But still, I used the word...

On the date 09 October 2010, I was in Taiping, as usual to spend my weekends. I have known that there will be a talk going on. An important one ( I presume)

But I chose to ignore the bloody talk and went back just as usual. One, because I trusted my group to help me in whatever situations. Two, I wanted to bid my friend Chee Wei Teh a farewell before he went back to Germany. Three, to meet up with MMU Cyber kaki's...

Things got worse when I found out that there was a case study, with a whooping 20% weight on my overall course. Thinking that there is nothing to be done, I laughed and ignored the matter...

Things got even worse when I found out that it's due date was on the coming Friday. I panicked, I sweated. My mood turned 180 degrees.

My head was turning, spinning. I gotta do something quick, fast! The way I replied my group in MSN, was somehow unacceptable. I even went to the extent of accusing them, making them scapegoats.

But then, after a while, I thought again. This time, with logic. I chose to came back, even knowing that there would be a talk. I did not ask for clear information regarding the assignment. Based on this two facts, it is already enough to condemn me a ZERO over the 20%. I deserved NOTHING!

I gradually accepted the fact. Although measures and initiatives to find a group is still on going, I have been guaranteed a life saver from my group that they will breach the rules to include me as one of their group members...

I know my group members aren't as "trustable" as others, but there are the one's that I have or got to lean on when there is a need to. Well surely they aren't quite good leaning materials, at least they are willing to pull me up when I fall down. I should be thankful for that...

And in the end, they are doing what other groups aren't doing(saving my god damn pathetic ass)

Again it goes with the title of this post. If we see things differently, the world, is actually not a bad place to live... Be positive, rather than passive.

And also, judge or see things based on logic and reality, not based on negative feelings...

*pst I was going to take that 0 marks like a man when life line drops in... GOD BLESS ME =D

Countdown for Finals and Sem Break

Current countdown for the final exam is 30 days, exactly one month. 46 days to semester break...

Again I'm doing the countdown thingy. To me, every portion of life is about looking forward for something. Whether good or bad.

I have count down for my tests, the FIFA World Cup, and my holidays. The good thing about it is, everyday when I change the numbers on my msn messenger, I'm aware that one day has passed by. How did that specific day went by? Was it a happy day?

Human brains are complicated and sophisticated. But we can never get more complicated than life. Life is always full of sadness and pain, that will make us weary. But happiness can definitely change things around, make things a little better...

I have realised a lot of things. Some I do tend to forget. Some I was lazy to post on my blog. But I know, the most important thing I have learn about life, is to always be happy, and to do the things you like most...

Study mood hasn't really quite kick in. And I don't plan to aim high this semester... A normal and peaceful semester is what I want... =D

Self Improvement Wisdom and Thoughts

"一直跟最厉害的比,你永远不会开心;一直跟比你差的比;你永远自己一个人开心;一直跟自己比,你永远都在改进"

by yours truly =D

In English, it means:

If you always compare yourself to the best, you'd never be happy - You'd strive too hard to make yourself do the impossible, and always end up not achieving it.

If you always compare yourself to the inferior, you'd always be happy by yourself - You'd laugh and belittle the others due to your superiority, but in the end, nobody is going to be proud of your achievements

If you always compete yourself with your maximum capability, you are always improving - Comparing yourself with the inner you, is realistic and logical, as everyone knows their own limits and capabilities. Set the target that you think you can achieve, the best you can do. Then fight for it and make it come true...

Another quote to remember: If you think you're the best, then you'll never be the best...
by Cristiano Ronaldo
