The Lovely Bones(Novel) Review

Nice book. Nice and simple. No twist. But at least there is something, that small tiny part that makes it, special, and unexpected.

The story is about Susie Salmon. She was raped and murdered by her pedophilic neighbour( actually her neighbour likes killing! A serial rapist. And he kills after he rapes)

So after Susie was murdered, she somehow went to this special heaven (not with the fluffy clouds and a halo around her head! LOL!). A heaven which resembles just like our normal Earth but the thing is, she could see whats happening to the world she had left. The story revolves on how her family copped with the lost of her. How her father looked desperately for her killer. How her mother could not take the pain and indulged into adultery(which I despised a lot!), and her brother Buckley and sister Lindsey and also, Grandma Lynn. Oh ya, and her dog Holiday who met her in heaven after it passed away in the real world.

I read through the book and somehow felt so excited when her family came so close to unearthing a clue but did not- it makes you anxious about what will happen the next page and so on. But the beginning part was a little boring. I took about 2 weeks to finish the book(although i did not read it everyday but after half passing half of the book, literally I got hooked up and read everyday =) )

So there was this little special moment that she was given a chance to do something she could not and did not do when she was alive ( Secret =D and spoiler free ). And that, was rounded up by a beautiful ending that I did not even expected( She did not wake up from the dead like Jesus LOL!). But still, a simple and nice ending, that a complicated mind did not expect.

In a nutshell, all's well, ends well...

5 stars, for being able to narrate the story in a 1st person point of view( Dead person, but still a person XD on the living world after she died in such a tragic way). And made the whole story, simple, neat and nice and beautiful after a horrific start. Bravo!

My Bachelor's Dream.

If I were to remain single for the rest of my life, I would like to have a life as below:

An acceptable size house. Not too big, not too little. Has everything I need. Most importantly an indoor football pitch(just half of it). So I can play football anytime. Even God can't stop me from playing football. =)

Place to live, Taiping, my hometown!

A well flexible job. Pays me well to feed me well.

One car just will do. 2 would be great. Hybrid fuel saving cars. Toyota Prius =)

No need for assets or bulging accounts. Enough for me to pull myself out a disaster.

And of course, the time of the whole world to visit all the places in the world before I die.

Is that too much? It maybe, but compared to others, I'm asking for the least =)

A Change

Now approximately one year ago( or so I think), Facebook undergone one of the biggest aesthetic overhaul.

And of course, basically everyone was PISSED~! You see statuses updates condemning the change, this that bla bla bla. And there are even groups like"We'll bring back the old Facebook if we reach 1,000,000".

Let's put it in a way. You hate the change. You complain. But every day, you log in to your facebook, even though you know there is basically nothing to do! It's like checking the fridge every now and then, and sometimes find a carton of orange juice or a candy bar( That will be the notifications and comments in facebook! XD).

Now, I dare you all who have "hated" the new design to dig deep down to your hearts. If Facebook were to change the current layout which so many of you hate back to the old one, would that be a "YES"?

I can ask everyone of you proudly, because I'm not one of those who have complained.

Not to make myself superior or look proud, but what I want to say is:

Changes are happening every now and then. To us, to the society, country, nature. So if some changes that happened aren't favourable, you can fret. But don't overdo it. It is best not to fret at all, but to start accepting the change, to accommodate it, as the faster you do, the faster you get over it. That Facebook was just one example. =)

Seriously, DO YOU ALL MISS THIS??? XD

An Idea?

What is the most contagious thing of all? An idea. Once you have an idea, it manifests, spreading quickly and at the end, takes hold of you.

There is no cure though. That's what I think.

But for me, an idea is just a part of the malicious contagious part of the mind.

A mentality is also a part of our mind. What we think, what our perspectives are.

A mentality, is however curable, if we are able to accept and change a new one.

Stereotyping is also an idea, a not so good way to look at everything based on one thing.

For example, if 9 out of 10 people get food poisoning and died after eating, say a particular chocolate bar. So, it's normal when we see that particular chocolate bar, we won't even touch the wrapper!

But what if, let's say, 9 out of 10 boys from a particular house are smokers(but you do not know who are the 9). So when you meet either one of them, can you straight away accuse him as a smoker?

We can't. But in our mind, for those who hate smokes, he or she will think, oh crap, I better stay away from him when you see him coming out and catching the same bus with you. This is just a small example. There are many more serious one =). Maybe an action that changes other people's impression on someone, which of course, is baseless!!!

I kind of agree with some traits and personalities shared by those based on horoscopes. For me with the horoscope Aries, we may be hard-headed, that means to stand firm or stay with our judgments and point of views. For me, this is not a good or favorable trait. But after learning and realizing a lot of things(through thinking and staring blank), I'm happy to say that now I can see things through a range of perspectives and of course, think before I say so I won't hurt other people's feelings.

I'm still learning yet. But I ain't perfect. Yet

So yes when I get into a debate with my "Aries" s and "Leo"s (who I find are quite fun to talk with XD), I usually have the upper hand of understanding what the opposition is thinking. To make them see what I see and what other people can see, is my ultimate goal, not making them think like me and give them a wrong impression of something based on the topic of debate, or in other words, Inception.

No one is always right or always wrong. Some are not right and not wrong. Some of course are totally wrong. But for certain situations, not always!

Some things are right done at the wrong time, some are bad things done at a right time, some are good things done at the wrong time, and of course bad things done at bad time.

And ya, good things done at the right time =)

Everyone has their own perspectives, which is unquestionable, and acceptable. But to want everyone to believe and see things your perspectives every time, now that, is unacceptable...

But sad to say that our minds are now "corrupted", as it is not easy to plant the right information with so many wrong one's planted. So, Inception anyone? XD

Green-ish Ponder

I don't know why a part of me seem so proactive and want to know about what is happening around and to Mother Earth. The BP oil spill at the Gulf of Mexico is one case. But let's not talk about what happened. Let's talk about what is going to happen.

When Nike came out with their new technology to make jerseys from recycled plastic bottles, my first thought was "AWESOME~!" I did not know that anything like that was possible. It would be even better though that they shared their technology to ADIDAS, together the two sport giants doing a big part towards lessening the rubbish destined to rubbish fields. But of course I understand that you can't share everything with rivals, not of course you ultimate secret.

I was driving home from Penang to Taiping and everytime I drive back, there will always be these super cars, driving at I-don't-know-maybe-150km/hr or above speed. Sure of course it is snail speed compared to Fernando Alonso, but what about the amount of gas his or her car emits? What is the excess of gas they can avoid from being emitted if he or she had drived according to the speed limit. Will these help save and change Mother Earth?

Then of course my thoughts wandered to the rubbish we throw everyday. I thought about this brilliant idea. Scrap the current rubbish collecting routine or scehdule, where people just chuck everything into the rubbish bin and wait for the collecter to collect it. Make or enforce the recycling rule, so that current rubbish collecters become recycling collecters and every piece of garbage can be recycled, meaning no more waste produced!

3R's-Reuse, Recycle, Reduce

But then another thought striked me. If that were to be the plan, humans, will definitely throw more rubbish into the rivers and pollute the Earth even more. Picture asking them to categorize their waste and buying 3 types of dustbin...

Football- Sport Or Entertainment

How to pack excitement, drama, controversy and tension into the world's most exciting sporting event? Simple.


The World Cup is the best example. It has been more of an entertainment rather than sport. But of course, entertain-ing sports into entertainment is the only way it can survive.

If world stage sports remains as a sport, then watching the World Cup will definitely be just like playing FIFA 10.

The good thing is that most people don't realise this. People like me, a season-ed pro, just laugh while I enjoy the show =)
