I just watched this movie today. And it seems that it may take over as one of the best movie I have seen...
Well the story revovles around in The Vatican City, with the world setting it's eye as the election of a new pope is about to commence but being hampered by an unusual threat, by the Illuminati, a secret society which have the roots of believing in finding the truth using science, which during the ancient times, was with loggerheads with the church...
The Illuminati threatens to kill the four kidnapped preferiti and bring down Christendom by blowing up St. Peter's square with a new found explosive called the antimatter, which will react with all kinds of matter, giving out tons and tons of energy...
As the Illuminati is a society with science roots, they threaten to brand the preferiti with four brands, each representing the basic elements, that are Earth, Air, Fire and Water...
These are the following preferiti and their ways of death...
Cardinal Ebner - One of the four Preferiti and a cardinal from Frankfurt, Germany.
He is killed by asphyxation, by means of putting dirt and soil into his mouth.
Cardinal Lamassé - One of the four Preferiti and a cardinal from Paris, France. He is killed by puncturing his lungs.
Cardinal Guidera - One of the four Preferiti and a cardinal from Barcelona, Spain. He is hanged and incinerated.
Cardinal Baggia - One of the four Preferiti and a cardinal from Milan, Italy and the favorite to succeed as the new pope. He was drowned.
Each of the perferiti were murdered in different places, signifying the four elements, through the path of Illumination and wow! was i attracted by the arts of Bernini, Raphael...

West Ponente at Saint Peter's Square(Temple of Air)
Ecstasy of St Teresa at Santa Maria della Vittoria Basilica(Temple of Fire)

About the ending, I don't want to be the spoiler guy... But i do have to talk about it...
Sometimes, it does not mean that if one is a man of god, he is always on the right path... One's thinking and acceptance can be crucial in one's personality. Maybe science and religion cannot coexist in the past, but it was only the thought and the greed of mankind that have brought scientists like Galileo and Nicolas Corpenicus to their deaths because of finding and revealing the truth... In the end, the followers of God, the angels, may be the demons in disguise, fooling the whole world...

So, acceptance of the exist of God, does not mean anything, but only if one know the difference between good and right and by choosing it, thus we have the angles and demons of our society, with God and Devil existing in out spiritual minds

erm.. ya.. so read the book if u have the chance.. cos its more detailed, more exiciting and chikek.. haha XD
Wat u've given is good.. but they brand the preferitti not because they are men of science only but as a revenge for wat was done in the past by the church to four illuminati scientists. they were branded with cross and left out in street, but secretly.
However, about the movie, i have this to say that it was not up to the expectation. the camerlingo's role was too much cut shorted. i liked the changes, especially about the 503(DIII) in the end. But the Hassasin was not given the actual skill and importance.
The movie is nothing compared to the book. But it was too good as a movie
yup. true. The preferiti were branded using the basic elements, to create a delusion that it is to believe that the Church's greatest enemy was back, and that was science.. Not as revenge my friend.. =)
